Background

Solitaire DeLong received her B.S.E in Biomedical Engineering from Arizona State University in 1998.  She then started her doctoral work in bioengineering at Rice University in 1999.

Research Project Synopsis

My goal is to develop hydrogel scaffolds with covalently incorporated bioactive components to influence the formation of engineered tissue.  Given the appropriate signals, cells have the potential to produce the perfect substitute: one that not only mimics the structural properties of native tissue, but also its functional properties.
